Coping with Joy

Or how to deal with the fact that your life doesn’t suck any more!

Jumping joyfully and triumphantlyIt’s true, but it seems like a strange thing to say; living in a constant state of joy, ease, bliss, peace, love, harmony and abundance can take a bit of getting used to!

The problem, I think, is that ego, the personality, for many of us is so used to dealing with quite the opposite of this that, when things take a dramatic turn for the better, it starts to get worried. Far from embracing and enjoying this new emotional wellbeing, it pines for the old and familiar, and will try to take us back there to ease its discomfort!

Love Monkey

He dreamt of a monkey whose
SMILE lit up his soul like sunshine.
He held out his heart to her,
so RADIANT, so splendid and so new.
She took him in her arms and
he felt truly, perfectly, at PEACE.

A WONDERFUL story, both lyrical and beautiful, about finding true and enduring love. Let Love Monkey bring a smile to your heart with another superb animation from Edward Monkton.

Wild Strawberries

A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself over the edge.

The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.

Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man then saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other.

How sweet it tasted.

Zen Poem

Remember that your life is not in the past, regretting your decisions and perceived mistakes. And life is not in the future, fearing what might be or putting off enjoyment to ‘someday when…’. No, life is now. Living is now. Happiness, joy, love, bliss – all now, in this moment.

Wild strawberriesSo stop to smell the roses, enjoy the beautiful sunsets, hear the music. Enjoy all the little moments. There are no ordinary moments, but you have to be here, present, now to enjoy them. And, of course, if you see strawberries – stop, enjoy, now, take a minute to forget about your tigers. Sweet 🙂

Enjoy life now

He is so happy!

Geoffry Palmer is perfectly cast as narator in this
brilliant, short animation of the Edward Monkton book.

Where is happiness?

Happiness, as Beran Wolfe* observed, is not under the radiator. Nor is it in a bigger house, a newer car, or a better job. Happiness is not to be found in having more money, time, toys, space, clothes, sex, food, drink, drugs, exercise, books, TV, sleep, holidays, furniture or chocolate. Certainly, should you choose to look, you will find many happy people who have some or all of these things, but equally you will find any number of unhappy people who have all of these and more in plentiful supply. No, happiness is not to be found under the radiator, under the bed, in the bed, in a flowerbed or up a tree. Happiness is just not to be found. Continue reading Where is happiness?

Be Happy – regardless!

It’s a funny thing, but when you go through life being unreasonably happy, full of joy and positivity, with a big smile on your face and not a bad word to say about anything or anybody, some people are going to look at you like you’re a bit weird. Actually, not that funny, it’s rather sad, but it seems to be true. Here’s an example… Continue reading Be Happy – regardless!
